Starting from the beginning

Terminology and terms of direction:

1. PLANES:

Median: Divides the body into left and right halves.

Frontal: Divides the body into front and back.

Transverse or Horizontal: Divides body into upper and lower parts.

Anterior: Towards front of body.

Posterior: Towards the back of the body.

Lateral: To the side

Medial: On the midline or towards the midline.

Superior: Higher than or above.

Inferior: Lower than or below.

2. MOVEMENTS:

Flexion: To decrease an angle joint.

Extention: To increase an angle joint.

Abduction: To draw away from the midline.

Adduction: To bring towards the midline.

Rotation: To turn can be inward or outward.

Plantarflexsion: Extension of the foot.

Dorsiflexsion: Flexsion of the foot.

Circumduction: Cone shape.
